Miami is a haven for celebrities, spring breakers, retirees, immigrants in search of the American dream! Often described as having beautiful weather only matched by the beauty of its residents, regarded as the “Magic City,” Miami has many jewels! One of those jewels is on-air personality Felisha Monet!
Growing up in NY, Felisha kept her radio tuned to Hot 97 radio legend Angie Martinez! Inspired by all that Angie stood for as a woman excelling in a male dominated field, Felisha dreamed of one day having her own show! Her dream has now become her reality and she has hopes of repeating the cycle and becoming that same inspiration for others.
She made her debut on radio after moving to Tallahassee in 2001! A local DJ noticed her at working at a mall job and thought her charismatic personality was better served gracing the airwaves than selling sneakers! She thought of Angie Martinez and her own childhood dream and decided to go off her instincts, quit her job and a few weeks later she was a regular voice on Tallahassee’s HOT 105.7! She was later recruited to work for Clear Channel’s WBWT 100.7 The Beat. It’s there she is credited with giving award winning singer T-Pain his break into the industry as seen on VH1’s Behind The Music: The T-Pain Story! After a few years honing her skills in Tallahassee, Felisha took her talents to South Beach (99JAMZ) and she has been winning ever since! She has held down the Number 1 Night Show “The TakeOver” for 3 years and was promoted to the coveted position of “Afternoon Drive.” It doesn't stop there, Felisha is expanding her brand to more than just radio!
Being more than just the voice behind the mic, this beauty has ventured into TV with recurring spots on the nightly AM Tonight Show with Alicia Menendez on Fusion TV. She’s also been seen on VH1’s Basketball Wives: Miami and Oxygen’s Sisterhood of HipHop.
Beauty and Brains are great but Felisha’s greatest characteristic may be her huge heart! Her true passion is her charity work! She somehow finds time to work directly with women battling AIDS/HIV, substance abuse, homelessness and/or domestic violence through
>> volunteering at the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center of Broward County. She is committed to empowering these women through workshops adopting the mantra “No matter what life throws your way YOU have the power to control the outcome!
Felisha Monet is a star! Her ability to relate on the ground level fills a void within the industry! Her innovative approach surpasses boundaries of airwaves and touches the hearts of everyone she encounters. It’s her spirit, passion, drive and commitment that forecast she will be around for years to come, adapting across all media platforms. Building her brand based off of integrity, dedication and hard work, Felisha Monet is on the rise.
Called ‘The Voice of Miami’ she can now be heard on her new show “The Afternoon Hustle” weekdays from 2pm-6pm on South Florida’s True Home for Hip & R&B 99 Jamz.
